Another day, another dupe. We have been bringing you the best alternatives of designer goodies at MyLondon this month and we are just getting started.
There are plenty of fashion statement pieces, kitchen appliances, and beauty products to find out there in the supermarket aisles. Today, I am testing the extremely popular Dr. Paw Paw dupe by Aldi costing just £1.25.
The Lacura Paw Paw ointment first showed up in UK stores late last year and has remained a steady favourite ever since. With Aldi's dupes gaining more and more traction recently, it is bound to be flying off shelves again this winter.

Aldi's PawPaw is a dupe, no doubt. The name, the look... at a glance you could easily think the supermarket was selling Dr. PawPaw products. If it weren't for the price.
The Lacura PawPaw ointment by Aldi is more than 80% cheaper than Dr. PawPaw's, which retails at £7.25. It aims to be a handbag essential, soothing skin and lips, protecting nails and cuticles, and adding finishing touches to hair and eyebrows. Basically it's the Mary Poppins of lip balms - it does everything.
Three versions grace the shelves at Aldi in Greenwich. The red tube is the classic, the yellow features macadamia nut oil, and the green features aloe vera. They all of course use PawPaw fruit bursting with Vitamin C.
The colours of the packages are admittedly a little confusing. You see, as a long time Dr. PawPaw user I know red as a tinted balm for lips and cheeks -so when I picked up the red dupe at Aldi that is what I was expecting. Instead I got a clear balm akin to the iconic yellow one by Dr. PawPaw.
So the red one is a dupe of the yellow one and the yellow one is a dupe of the yellow one with some macadamia nut oil. See? I said it was confusing. Basically, there are no tinted balms here; if you love the yellow Dr.PawPaw opt for the red Aldi PawPaw.
The classic Lacura PawPaw ointment is thick and fragrant-free. It might look like earwax when it is being squeezed out of the tube (sorry, it does) but it is invisible once applied.
The consistency is a bit too thick for me to use on my hands but works nicely as a lip balm and cuticle ointment. This product really comes into its own, though, on a windy day.
I was apprehensive about putting Aldi's balm on my hair, convinced it would make it look greasy, but now I am never going back. It is the perfect quick fix for flyaways and stubborn baby hairs.
Just as Aldi intended, the Lacura PawPaw ointment has joined the leagues of my handbag essentials. For fans of Dr. PawPaw it is a wonderful (and cheap) alternative and a great stocking filler.
